Fire and Ice: The Daring Adventures Of Cool Coyote (now that's a long title) is a computer game released by Graftgold in 1992 for the Amiga OCS/ECS and the Atari ST/E. Two years later, an enhanced CD32 and Amiga AGA versions followed.

Fire and IceSTORY / GAMEPLAY
You control a cute coyote named Cool on a quest to go through eight worlds in pursuit of the evil wizard Suten. In each level you collect fragments of a key that will grant you access to the next part. Those fragments can be obtained by killing other creatures that swarm the area. You can attack a creature by shooting ice pellets at it and freeze it. Note that this causes no actual damage and the freezing state will stop after a while so you must kill it when it's still frozen. There are also some hidden warp gates that can transport you to other lands and possibly hidden bonus zones. The game is a good looking but hard jump and run platform with pretty sensitive controls! You'll need quite some skill to get Coyote where you want since the ice world platforms are very slippery.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The Amiga has 32 colors on-screen that can be extended to 64 via it's unique Extra Half-Bright mode (EHB). Also, the static screen may have 4096 simultaneous colors in HAM mode. Also the Copper Effect, another unique Amiga technique, gives some nice effects on the two screens of the game (one for the gameplay area and one for the map) with multiple copper raster bars to give the graphics a colorful gradient. With copper, it's possible to manipulate a change on the reflection colors and thus more colors can be depicted. So, the active number of the Amiga version's screen colors is 100! The graphics look very good and the character animations are just great and both foregrounds and backgrounds scroll smoothly. It is quite noticeable (Amiga only) the impressive shimmering water effect at the bottom of the screen! Note that the Amiga version features more foreground and background details compared to the both the Atari ST and STE (which by the way have 70+ and 90+ colors on-screen respectively via some special techniques!) Also, due to enhanced memory and CPU, the AGA (A1200 and CD32) versions include extra details with 256 simultaneous colors. As far as the sound, the Amiga version has a great main menu music as well as some neat in-game sound effects and sampled music!

Πολύ όμορφο παιχνίδι. Το μόνο που με εκνεύριζε ήταν η αδράνεια στο sprite που μπορούσε να σου ακυρώσει ένα καλό άλμα.
